Skirt with a Zipper

In this class you will learn how sew a paneled or A-line skirt, how to cut out, insert an invisible zipper, make a facing and pockets and techniques on hemming. You will take home your custom fit skirt and pattern so you can make it again. We recommend that you take the Inserting Zippers class prior to this skirtmaking class.

Please call or text Krista (254-495-5185) to set up an appointment prior to the class to come to the Quilt Barn and learn how to custom fit the skirt pattern to you. Priced by the hour and separate from the class, fitting the pattern usually takes from 1/2 to 1 hour depending on the extent of the changes needed. Then bring the pattern to the class ready to cut out.



Supplies needed for Skirt:

Classic Clothing Six-Panel Skirt pattern (L3301). We often have samples at the Quilt Barn that you can try on to determine what size will fit you. Please call the shop for availability. This is our most popular style, but if you would prefer any of our other styles, you are welcome to make a different pattern, we just may not have a sample sewn for you to try on in every style that we have a pattern available for.

Please purchase and prewash and dry your fabric prior to the class. A wide range of fabrics are suitable for this skirt: denim, twill, suiting, poly/cotton blends and most light- to medium-weight wovens. Fabrics with some cotton content are going to be easier to sew than a polyester fabric. Do not use slippery or stretchy fabrics or a plaid.
