Easy Little Girl's Jumper

This is a very fast to sew pull-on jumper: no buttonholes or zippers! This is a great introduction to garment making - perfect for a beginning seamstress or a busy mom. You will learn how to determine what size will fit, how to cut out, how to sew a simple lined bodice, how to attach the bodice to the skirt, how to hem, tips on sewing ribbon or rickrack trim and more. You will take home the completed jumper and the pattern so that you can make it again!

Materials needed. Please bring the following to class:

Classic Clothing Girl's Pull-On Jumper pattern.
Available in girl's sizes 2-10.

Measurements for the little girl you will make the jumper for. Please measure:

3. Desired Finished Jumper Length (from base of neck in back to hem) ____________

4. Desired Finished Skirt Length (from waist to hem) ___________

Note: If you are local and able to bring the little girl that you will be sewing the jumper for to Heritage Quilt Barn, we often have a selection of jumpers available to try on at our shop. This makes finding the right size very easy and is also helpful in determining if any adjustments are needed. Please call (254-829-7119) to see if we have the jumpers in stock.
If we do not have the right size available, or you are not able to come by, please take the measurements listed above and bring them to the class.

Please purchase, prewash, dry and iron your fabric prior to the class. A wide range of fabrics are suitable for this jumper: Cotton, poly/cotton blends, seersucker, lightweight denim, corduroy, as well as most light- to medium-weight wovens. You can choose to either line the bodice with the same fabric as the jumper or use a lighter-weight lining if the jumper fabric is not lightweight. Fabrics with some cotton content are going to be easier to sew than a polyester fabric. Do not use slippery or stretchy fabrics and no plaids. See the back of the jumper pattern for exact yardage for the size you will be making or if you are using a fabric with nap or one-way design. Approximate yardage:
1 1/4 - 1 2/3 yards of 60" wide fabric
1 3/8 - 2 1/4 yards of 45" wide fabric

1/3-1/2 yard light-weight poly/cotton fabric for lining the bodice if your jumper fabric is not light-weight (denim or similar weight material will need a lighter-weight lining)

Optional: ribbon or rickrack trim if desired

Thread to match

Call (254-829-7119) or come by the shop if you have any questions or need help with choosing your fabric.

Please bring a sack lunch or, for anyone who would like to, we will place an order to go from Cafe Homestead.
